Disturbed - Deify

I’m sure many of you know by now, I am “addicted” to Disturbed. Their music f@$#ing rocks! Well, lately, I’ve been listening to one of their songs… a lot. A lot more than many of the others.

It’s become one of my top favorites, and it’s called “Deify”.

[Woman's Voice:] That’s what I believe got him re-elected, is the people knew that you could believe what he says.
[George Bush:] Our Country is strong, we go forward to defend freedom, and all that is good and just in our world.

All my devotion betrayed
I am no longer afraid
I was too blinded to see
How much you’ve stolen from me

You want to know why I feel so horrified?
I’ve let my innocence die
You want to know why I can’t be pacified?
You made me bury something
I won’t be sleeping tonight

I only wanted a blessing made
Now I’ve been labeled a renegade
It seems so clear now what I must do
You’re no immortal
I won’t let them
Deify you
They view you as the new messiah
Deify you
Renew belief in some demented man

You want to know why it seems the passion’s died?
We’ve all been living this lie
You want to know why my will’s been fortified?
You’ve made me hunger again
Good luck sleeping tonight

I only wanted a blessing made
Now I’ve been labeled a renegade
It seems so clear now what I must do
You’re no immortal
I won’t let them
Deify you
They view you as the new messiah
Deify you
Renew belief in some demented man

All my devotion betrayed
I am no longer afraid
I was too blinded to see
How much you’ve stolen from me

Deify you
They view you as the new messiah
Deify you
Renew belief in some demented man

dotAsia - It’s about time!

It’s about time someone had the balls to say something about dotAsia. I for one, have had the same thoughts since news first broke about dotAsia.

So, today, I bring you, a very well written post about The dotAsia debacle:

Summary

Well tbh, I don’t subscribe to TLD bashing. Its a common enough pass time for trolls and others alike on most boards. Some people do it to downplay competition, some coz they want to push something else, some coz its just fashionable to kick something when its down. But a really small percentage do it for educating the sheep (aka followers) who’re being led down the garden path by people with vested interests (not to mention huge holdings) in a particular TLD…

Expert Rating - PHP5

Any of you heard of ExpertRating.com?

I found them earlier today by just browsing around. It appears they do a lot of testing for employers, and they have every test imaginable.

I just had to try it, so I picked out the PHP5 Test. The tests aren’t free, but it appears most of them are around $9.95 (and payable by PayPal).

As for my test, I passed with an 88/100. I could do better if I *tried*, I flew through the thing. I might try it again later, and take my time  But for now… I am:

PHP5 Certified

Percentile: 97 GPA: 3.5 Passing Score: 50 Your Score: 88 Result: Pass

The Percentile value denotes the percentage of candidates who have scored less than this particular candidate in this test.

The GPA shows this candidate’s performance relative to the top scorer of this test. It is calculated out of a maximum of 4. A GPA of 4 would mean that this candidate has top scored in this test.

WordPress 2.5 RC1

Hey all! Been a while.

I come to you today because WordPress has released a “sneak peek” of the new WordPress 2.5 (it’s at Release Candidate stage). I just upgrade my blog to 2.5, and I must say, I love it! Not only for the new admin interface, but it’s fast as hell!

More information, and WordPress’ official announcement:

A customizable dashboard, multi-file upload, built-in galleries, one-click plugin upgrades, tag management, built-in Gravatars, full text feeds, and faster load times sound interesting? Then WordPress 2.5 might be the release for you. It’s been in the oven for a while, and we’re finally ready to open the doors a bit to give you a taste.

For the past few months, we’ve been working with our friends at Happy Cog — Jeffrey Zeldman, Jason Santa Maria, and Liz Danzico — to redesign WordPress from the ground-up. The result is a new way of interacting with WordPress that will remain familiar to seasoned users while improving the experience for everyone. This isn’t just a fresh coat of paint — we’ve re-thought the look of WordPress, as well as how it’s organized so that you can forget about the software and focus on your own creative pursuits… More info

New Design

So after a while of having that old, dark, design - I’ve decided to switch it up. I like the new, light, Web 2.0-ish look of this theme. What do ya’ll think?

Ahh, cable internet

I recently had to move, and was without internet for about two weeks. I used to be on DSL and was too cheap to buy cable (albeit, cable hadn’t offered good speeds where I was). At the new place, I’m now on 6MB cable, and I love it!

I don’t know how I went all these years without it.

Valentine’s Day 2008

I know it’s a bit late, but Happy Valentine’s Day!!!

Hope ya’ll had a great day with your loved ones.

WordPress 2.3.3

WordPress 2.3.3 was released a couple days ago (kind of a belated post), and it’s advised to upgrade.

Official Announcement:

WordPress 2.3.3 is an urgent security release. If you have registration enabled a flaw was found in the XML-RPC implementation such that a specially crafted request would allow a user to edit posts of other users on that blog. In addition to fixing this security flaw, 2.3.3 fixes a few minor bugs. If you are interested only in the security fix, download the fixed version of xmlrpc.php and copy it over your existing xmlrpc.php. Otherwise, you can get the entire release here.

Also, there is a vulnerability in the WP-Forum plugin that is being actively exploited right now. If you are using this plugin, please remove it until an update is available from its author.

Since we are talking security, remember to use strong passwords and change them regularly. While you’re updating WP and your plugins, consider refreshing your passwords.
